What You Can Do — Today and All Year Long

At Young America, we want our residents to feel supported, especially when external costs are rising. Here are smart, seasonally relevant ways to reduce your energy usage while staying comfortable.

During Fall and Winter Months

Adjust your thermostat: Lower it to 68°F during the day and 62°F at night while you sleep or when you're away. Every degree matters!
Use window coverings wisely: Keep blinds and curtains open during sunny days to let in warmth, and close them at night to trap heat inside.
Seal windows and doors: Drafts are sneaky energy wasters. Use weather stripping or a draft stopper to seal gaps.
Layer up: Cozy blankets and warm clothing help you stay comfortable without cranking the heat.
Avoid space heaters when possible: They're convenient, but often inefficient and expensive.

During Spring and Summer Months

Raise your thermostat. Set it to 75–78°F when home, and higher when you're away.

Keys will be available to pick up from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM!

For Current YA Residents, keys can be picked up starting at 8:30 AM. For NEW YA Residents, keys can be picked up starting at 10:30 AM.
