YA Move-Out: What You Need to Know

We appreciate you living with Young America. We want to make sure you have all of the information you need to ensure a smooth move out process.

Move-Out Checklist

Complete the following by the move-out date in your lease:

Remove all personal belongings and clean your unit
Take photos of your unit
Submit the Move-Out Conformation Form
Return all unit, and mail keys, as well as any garage door openers with a completed Key Return Form envelope (located in your building's mail area).
LEAVE ALL BEDROOM KEYS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE DOORS

Post Move-Out Charges and Info

After move-out your account will be reviewed for:

Applicable cleaning costs
Damage beyond normal wear and tear
Missing keys or access devices
Final utility useage charges

Charges will be applied to your Resident Portal and you will be notified via email and text on file. If you wish to dispute any charges, you must do so using the Dispute Reporting Form.

NOTE: While move-out charges have been assessed individually, viewing the ledger for the entire unit will include charges associated with the apartment as a whole.

When is Move-Out Day?

Please refer to your lease for your move-out date. All residents must vacate and return keys to the Young America Student Office located at 311 S Main Street, Normal on/before this date.

Where do I return my keys?

Keys must be returned to a designated key return dropbox in your building (if available) or the Young America Student Office located at 311 S Main Street, Normal. Bedroom keys should be left in their respective doors, and ALL OTHER KEYS returned in a completed Key Return Form envelope.

Refer to your lease to confirm your move-out date and associated key drop-off deadline.

What is the key return process?

For units with physical keys:

You may return your keys on/before the move-out date appearing on your lease at the Young America Student Office located at 311 S Main Street, Normal, during regular business hours, or by using the after hours drop box near the main entry door.
All keys must be secured to a completed Key Return Form envelope.

For units with coded (keypad) entry:

Any associated mailbox and security door keys, as well as garage door openers must still be returned on/before the move-out date appearing on your lease using the dropbox in the mail area of your building, or to the Young America Student Office located at 311 S Main Street, Normal, during regular business hours, or by using the after hours drop box near the main entry door.
All keys must be secured to a completed Key Return Form envelope. Only one resident per unit should complete the Key Return Form for coded doors with mailbox and security door keys or garage door openers.
If a unit is fully coded, with no associated keys or openers, a Key Return Form is not needed.

All bedroom keys should be left in their respective doors.

All residents must submit a Move-Out Conformation Form, regardless of key or coded access.

Where do I find a Key Return Form envelope?

Key Return Form envelopes are available near the key return dropbox in your building's mail area (if available) or at the Young America Student Office located at 311 S Main Street, Normal and may be returned during normal business hours or by using the drop box outside.

All bedroom keys should be left in their respective doors.

Do I need to clean my apartment?

Yes. Units must be returned in clean condition or cleaning charges will apply.

How are charges handled with roommates?

While move-out charges have been assessed individually, viewing the ledger for the entire unit will include charges associated with the apartment as a whole.

If you wish to dispute any charges, you must do so using the Dispute Reporting Form.

What if I leave any of my belongings behind?

No items will be stored or saved following the move-out date/time stated on your lease. Please take extra care to move-out all belongings on/before this time.

For Current YA Residents, keys can be picked up starting at 8:30 AM. For NEW YA Residents, keys can be picked up starting at 10:30 AM.
