We are a local, family-owned real-estate management company that is the leading provider of student and residential housing in Bloomington-Normal. More students live in Young America housing than any other housing provider in the area. Our residential division offers far more personalized services than our competitors, making for a superior resident experience. Build Credit With Your Rent

As part of your YA resident experience, eligible residents are enrolled in the Credit Building Program, a resident amenity that reports on-time rent payments to the three major credit bureaus: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. Only positive, on-time rent payments are reported, so the program will not report unpaid rent or late payments.

Resident Benefits

When you pay rent on time, your payment history may help strengthen your credit profile over time. Score increases are not guaranteed and depend on your full credit history, including other loans, credit cards, and accounts.

Opting Out

You will receive an email from Boom after the start date listed in your lease agreement. The email will include a link and instructions to opt out before your first $8 charge, which will be applied on with your second month's rent payment and is reflective of the preceding month's payment activity.

IMPORTANT: You must opt-out before the first day of the month. If your opt-out is approved after the first day of a given month, you will be unenrolled for future months, but the current month’s $8 charge will still apply.

What credit bureaus will receive my rent reports?

On-time only rent payment reports will be submitted to on behalf of all enrolled YA residents to the three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

What sort of impact should I expect?

While every credit profile is unique and our partner cannot guarantee score increases, residents who consistently pay rent on time see an average increase of 28 points. For residents starting with a credit score under 550, the average increase is 73 points within the first six months.

It’s important to note that these average results reported from our partner assume no new negative items are added to your credit history during this time. For example, if you pay your rent on time but also have late payments on credit cards, auto loans, or other accounts, your overall credit score may not improve - or could even decrease - despite your positive rental payment history being reported through this service.

Why does my credit score matter?

Good credit scores open the door to lower interest rates, better loan terms, and greater financial flexibility, saving you thousands of dollars over time.

Here's a real-world example: If you decide to buy a $15,000 used car with a $2,000 down payment on a 5-year loan, a credit score incrase of 80 points can result in nearly $3,000 in interest savings.

How are my rent payments verified?

Your on-time only rent payments are verified through the property management software where make those rent payments.

How do I know if I am eligible for these credit building services?

All YA residents age 18 or older will be enrolled in our credit building service.

Is there a cost to receive these credit building services?

Residents who do not opt out of credit building services will be charged a monthly fee of $8 in their resident portal.

How do I access my account / opt out / get support?

You will receive an email from our partner, Boom, with a link to opt out. You may also opt out using this link.

For Current YA Residents, keys can be picked up starting at 8:30 AM. For NEW YA Residents, keys can be picked up starting at 10:30 AM.
